The Trees Only Watch

Acrylic paint and ballpoint pen

A creature stands frozen in the clearing, small, still, and afraid. Around it, the trees stand like tall sentinels, their eyes etched into the bark, unblinking. They do not move. They do not speak. They only watch. This piece explores the quiet reality of fear and paralysis, how the world can feel alive with presence, but offer no comfort. The trees bear witness to the moment, maybe mourning, maybe mocking, but never intervening. In that silence, fear settles in like roots beneath the snow.
